Teaching Quality Baseline
This survey is the starting point of your university’s Transformative Learning journey. It asks 35 questions about how you currently teach — not how you think you should teach, and not how you’d like to be seen to teach.
There are no right or wrong answers here. Every description in this survey reflects a real, legitimate approach to teaching. The purpose is to understand where your cohort is starting from — so that the support you receive is designed around your actual practice, not an imaginary one.
Your honest answers make the programme more useful to you. Answers that present a better picture than reality mean the programme ends up designed for someone else.
Your individual responses are strictly confidential. They will not be shared with your head of department, your dean, or any colleague. They will not appear in any performance review or employment process. Your responses are combined with your colleagues’ responses to build an overall picture of where your institution is starting from — never as a record of what any individual said.
The survey takes around 15 minutes. For each question, choose the description that most honestly reflects what typically happens in your teaching.
Two quick questions before we begin. This information helps us group responses correctly — it does not identify you individually.
